I was sick for years. Doctors would say, “Your test results are normal,” and “You look great!” Some people thought I was making it up.
I had chronic pain. I couldn’t walk downstairs. I was depressed. I would eat to feel better, but it would only make me feel worse. I had a dull headache for years. My thyroid failed. My hands didn’t work (and I was a hairstylist). Sleep was rare.
And I had young children who needed their mother.
Can you relate to this?
Then came terrifying diagnoses like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Celiac, Hashimoto’s, Lyme Disease, and Cancer.
I got to the point where I couldn’t walk. My best option at 39-years-old was to get two knee replacements. My marriage was falling apart and then unexpectedly, my younger brother passed away.
I’d had enough. I was living but I was by no means thriving. I realized I had to advocate for my own health and find out what was really going on in my body.
On my healing journey, my first stop was training to read angel cards. We all intuitively know what we need to heal. When you turn up the volume on your inner voice, it may lead you to the right medical services, healing modalities, conversations, books, or simple point you in the right direction. Sometimes we just need a little help awakening our intuition, so we can truly hear it. That was what the angel readings opened up for me; listening and trusting myself.
After I took that class, I listened to that voice inside me even when it didn’t make sense. I took my first 200-hour Yoga teacher training in 2013. In 2014, I took a 6-month Ayurveda training. A year later, I took Gabby Bernstein’s Spirit Junkie Life Coaching and Donna Eden’s Energy Healing certification.
Through Dhyana Yoga Studio, I took another 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training and I’m now a 500-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher. During Covid, I got my groove on and became a Journey Dance facilitator. I also took a yearlong intensive Ayurveda training through American Ayurveda.
Through principles I’ve learned in all these teachings, I am happy to say most days my 50-year-old body feels amazing.
Now I’m excited to share these tools to help others heal.
